Electrical field engineer

Educational requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Power Systems Engineering
    • Electronics & Communication Engineering
  • Preferred certifications:
    • ANRE for LV, MV optional

 Technical skills

1. Power Supply & Distribution

  • Design and maintenance of LV and MV electrical distribution systems
  • Knowledge of redundant power supply design, uninterruptible power systems (UPS) and backup generators
  • Understanding of earthing, lightning protection and bonding systems
  • Proficiency in load calculation, cable sizing and short-circuit analysis

     

2. Lighting & Control Systems

  • Expertise in lighting design standards
  • Use of lighting simulation tools
  • Understanding of adaptive lighting systems and emergency lighting control
  • Integration of lighting control with SCADA/BMS systems

     

3. Safety & Emergency Systems

  • Design and integration of:
    • Fire detection and alarm systems
    • Emergency communication (PA/intercom) systems
    • CCTV, variable message signs (VMS) and traffic control systems
    • Ventilation control and monitoring (fans, dampers, sensors)
  • Knowledge of emergency evacuation lighting, battery backup and critical power systems

     

4. Control & Automation

  • Experience with PLC and SCADA systems
  • Familiarity with industrial communication networks (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)
  • Understanding of remote control and fault monitoring architectures

Soft skills

  • Strong coordination with multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, fire safety, controls)
  • Excellent documentation and reporting abilities
  • Effective communication with contractors, consultants and government authorities
  • Strong attention to safety, reliability and compliance
  • Ability to work in on-site and confined environments

Experience requirements (typical)

  • Mid-Level: 3–7 years in electrical systems design, installation, or commissioning for tunnels, metros, or highways
  • Senior-Level: 8+ years managing electrical design, QA/QC and integration of complex systems

Typical responsibilities

  • Design, review and implement electrical systems for infrastructure projects
  • Prepare single-line diagrams, cable schedules and load distribution schemes
  • Coordinate with civil and mechanical teams for installation routes and interface management
  • Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of electrical and control systems
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and statutory regulations
  • Prepare as-built drawings, O&M manuals and system integration reports
  • Support inspection, maintenance and fault analysis post-commissioning

This role is based at our Bucharest office, so we’re looking for candidates who are already located in Romania and can work on-site. Unfortunately, we’re not able to offer relocation support or consider international applications at this time.
